JCT Copper Nickel Alloys

Nickel Centrifugal Castings and Monel Castings

The high yield and high quality of JCT nickel centrifugal castings are a necessary requirement in producing many specialty nickel based alloy components. Due to the high cost and relatively poor machinability of nickel alloys, centrifugals such as, copper nickel castings and Monel® castings are a cost-effective alternative to nickel based forgings.

Common applications for high nickel alloy castings include:

  • Valve components: Corrosive and seawater applications require alloys in the Inconel®, Hastelloy®, Copper-Nickel (70-30, 90-10) and Monel families. The valves are typically used in chemical processing, food processing, seawater and naval defense applications.
  • Piping system components: Such as weld-neck and blind flanges, reducers and transitioning sleeves are produced centrifugally due to the resulting cost efficiency and high quality. Other piping applications use the same nickel alloys as in the valve markets, such as Inconel 625 and 825, and Hastelloy C and C-276, and the copper nickel alloys.
  • Bearing and shaft sleeves: Often requiring both high strength and extreme corrosion resistance, high nickel alloys such as Inconels and copper-nickels are often specified.
  • Mineral and gas exposed components: Very specific alloys such as Inconel 625 and Nickel 200 are used for components subjected to corrosive flue gases and high-sulfur minerals.

The nickel alloys are excellent for extreme heat and corrosion resistance and are impervious to a wide range of industrial chemicals. Components made from nickel are also used in other marine, heat-treating and chemical process applications.
